MISSOURI BAPTIST WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL SWEEPS CONSECUTIVE MATCHES

College City, Ark. - The Missouri Baptist Spartans didn't waste much time, sweeping two consecutive matches against conference opponent Willams Baptist College 25-23, 25-19, 25-16 and 25-13, 25-21, 25-17 on Tuesday.

The Spartans, traveled to Arkansas for their first conference matchup of the season. The team, who has yet to drop a set since its loss to top-ranked University of Texas at Brownsville, played two strong matches again.

In the first match, senior Casey Chernin came up big for the Spartans. The senior outside hitter recorded eight kills to lead the offense. Also of note was outside hitter, Lucy Ford. The senior from Monticello, Ill., posted two aces for MBU in the first-match victory.

The second match was more of the same for Missouri Baptist. This time, Katie Povis came up big, swatting seven kills. On defense, Tracey Abell turned in another solid effort, notching nine digs.

The two victories come on the heels of the newest NAIA women's volleyball poll this afternoon. The Spartans dropped two spots this week, due to only playing (and winning) one match.

MBU improves to 11-1 on the year with the victories and will look to continue the impressive season on Thursday against Central Methodist University at 6:00 p.m.
