St. Louis, Mo. - Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball beat Maryville in three straight to win its 16th match of the season on Tuesday, 25-23, 25-17 and 25-16.
On the same day that MBU's Lauren Stuckel was named AMC Player of the Week, the Spartans seemed energized from start to finish. Casey Chernin led the team's offense, knocking down 10 kills to lead all scorers. Stuckel was equally as impressive. The setter recorded 30 assists and seven kills in the victory.
Also making an impression was sophomore middle, Madeline Nesbit. In the match, she recorded six kills and a .455 hitting percentage, not to mention two blocks.
The Spartans received several pieces of good news already this week. In addition to the win and Stuckel's Player of the Week nod, the team moved up three spots in the latest NAIA coaches' poll. MBU is now ranked 18
th in the nation.
