SPARTANS SHOOT DOWN STARS IN AMC SHOWDOWN

Columbia, Mo. - The Missouri Baptist women's volleyball team continued its undefeated conference record on Thursday at Stephens College, beating the Stars in straight sets, 25-13, 25-23 and 25-12.

 

The 18th-ranked Spartans went into StephensCollege riding an eight-game win streak and extended it to nine with the victory. MBU's Casey Chernin continued her stellar season, recording 14 kills to lead the offense. Senior outside hitter Katie Povis was also on point, notching nine kills and three aces.

On defense, Sara Mohesky was a top performer for the Spartans. The sophomore libero was on fire with 19 digs in the match. MBU has now won an astounding 27 consecutive sets in the team's current win streak.

Missouri Baptist will again travel to Columbia on Monday to face the number four-ranked Columbia College Cougars in a battle for the lead in the AMC. This will be the first meeting this season between the conference rivals and one of the most exciting matches in the NAIA this season.
