TROJANS TOO MUCH FOR SPARTANS

Hannibal, Mo.- The Spartans women's basketball team hoped to put a halt to their six game losing streak against Hannibal LaGrange on Thursday, but the Trojans took control of the second half for the 67-57 win. 

Both teams had their fair share of turnovers in the first half. Missouri Baptist was able to stay in control though, maintaining an early lead. The teams continued to battle throughout the final 12 minutes of the period and the Hannibal finished with a slight 29-24 advantage. 

The Trojans started out the second half with hot shooting sound defensive play. Hannibal LaGrange took control early and jumped out to a 55-39 lead with seven minutes left. The Spartans made strides to get back into the game, but Hannibal-LaGrange held off Missouri Baptist for the win. 

The Spartans were led by Andrea Seabaugh with 20 points and Mandy Kirby chipped in 10. Iesha McDaniel led the team in rebounds with eight and added seven points. The Trojans were led by Trenee Thornton with 18 points. Ashley Wilson added a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. 

Missouri Baptist shot 42% from the field, but the Trojans fared slightly better shooting 52%. Defensively, the Spartans were also good. The team recorded 16 turnovers for the game.

The Spartans will head home for a showdown with Park University on January 28th. Tip-off is set for 2:00 p.m.
