ST. LOUIS, Mo. - The Missouri Baptist University women's volleyball team extended its win streak to 21 matches on Friday as the team beat American Midwest Conference opponent Hannibal-LaGrange 3-0.
Missouri Baptist (21-0, 10-0 AMC) controlled play from the outset of the first game. After a 3-0 run, MBU extended the lead to 10-3 before building a 17-9 advantage. Right side Maddy Hammack led the Spartan offense, recording 4 kills and a .500 attack percentage on the way to a 25-11 win.
The second set began much differently. After a 4-1 MBU lead, the Trojans came back to tie the match at five early. Hannibal-LaGrange persisted and knotted the game up at 10, before the Spartans began to separate themselves on the scoreboard. MBU went on a 9-3 run led by Hammack (6 kills, .308 attack %) and setter Ally Krus (15 assists)
After building a 17-7 lead, the Spartans finished the match with authority. The team finished with a .386 attack percentage and forced the Trojans to play from behind the entire evening, going on to a 25-12 win.
The Spartans remain undefeated on the year and will head into a big conference road matchup with the always dangerous, Park University Pirates on Monday. The team will return home on Wednesday to play the No. 3-ranked Columbia College Cougars. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex.
