BOLIVAR, Mo. – After a short break for finals and Christmas, the Missouri Baptist University women's basketball team returned to action on Saturday, losing 75-54 to the Southwest Baptist Bearcats.
The Bearcats scored the first five points of the game and the Spartans never had a lead in the game. SBU built a 16 point lead with 6:36 to go in the first half, but the Spartans battled back to make it a 44-30 lead for SBU at the half.
The second half was just like the first. The Bearcats were just too strong and too much for MBU to handle.
The Spartans never cut the lead to less than 12 in the game. SBU pulled away and led by 20 most of the second half.
Senior Mandy Kirby led the Spartans with 11 points and added two rebounds. Leslie Damper was second on the team with nine points. Taylor Klingelhoefer added eight points.
Missouri Baptist, now 3-9 on the season, will look to bounce back after the New Year as conference play will begin Jan. 5th at Park University. The game time is set for 5:30 p.m.
