FENTON, Mo. - Missouri Baptist men's lacrosse sank deeper into its largest losing skid of the season on Thursday evening. Washington University dominated play in the second half as the Bears went on to an 11-6 victory.
The Spartans (4-6) had difficulty breaking through the stingy defense of Washington University all evening. Things started off well enough for MBU, only in a 2-1 hole going into the half. As the sun went down on the game and the temperature dropped, the Bears heated up.
Washington University outscored Missouri Baptist 9-4 in the second half, making a statement in the MCLA to move up in the national poll.
All was not bad for the Spartans. The team posted three late goals in an attempt to mount a late comeback, but the effort came too late.
For Missouri Baptist, David Justvig, Brendon Mitchell, Nick Herron Nick Fensom, Ian Brosch and Justin Mueller all posted goals in the match.
The Spartans will be back in action next Friday when the team travels to Springfield to take on the Missouri State Bears.
