#14 SPARTANS ROLL OVER BENEDICTINE-SPRINGFIELD

ST. LOUIS, Mo. - It didn't take long for the Missouri Baptist women's volleyball squad to get its first win of the season on home court Tuesday night. The Spartans executed its strategy from the first serve, handing Benedictine-Springfield a 3-0 loss.

Missouri Baptist (5-0) came out firing. Freshman outside Taylor Cook recorded four kills while middle blocker Madeline Nesbit had a .750 attack percentage, guiding the Spartans to a quick 25-5 win.

The second set was very similar to the first. Nesbit continued her strong hitting, but setter Ally Krus cme to the forefront. The freshman notched 13 assists to go with her 10 from the first set to power the Spartan offense to another quick 25-8 victory.

In the third set, however, Missouri Baptist began to struggle. The Bulldogs started the set with a 10-6 lead, making an effort to get back into the match. Missouri Baptist, however, was not to be denied. The team came back with a late effort to squeak-out a 25-19 victory.

The Spartans are now 5-0 on the season and remain the 14th-ranked team in the nation after today's release of the NAIA Volleyball Coaches' Poll. The team will turn around and head back out onto the road tomorrow to face NCAA DII opponent, Quincy University. First serve is scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
