SPARTANS DROP FOURTH GAME IN A ROW

FULTON, Mo. – The Missouri Baptist women's basketball team lost their fourth game in a row Thursday night to the William Woods Owls 69-43. The Spartans fall to 6-14 on the year and 3-5 in the American Midwest Conference.

William Woods jumped out on top and tried to put the Spartans away early. The Owls had a seven point lead, 18-11 just over half way through the first half, but MBU was not going away. The Spartans battled back and tied the game at 27 at halftime.

In the second half is when things went bad for Missouri Baptist. The game was tied at 36 with 12:26 to play in the game when the Owls went on a 19-0 run to put the Spartans down in a big hole with just under six minutes to play in the game.

It was too much for MBU to come back from and they dropped the game 6-43 to William Woods. From the 12:26 mark of the second half the Owls outscored the Spartans 33-7. Missouri Baptist shot 25 percent in the second half, while the Owls shot 41 percent from the field.

The Spartans look to end the losing skid and get back in the win column this Saturday as they come home to battle Hannibal-LaGrange University. This game is part of the Coaches vs Cancer where money will be raised for the American Cancer Society. Tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex.
