SPARTANS REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN AMC

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist women's volleyball made quick work of Hannibal-LaGrange University on Thursday and moved to 6-0 in American Midwest Conference play in a 3-0 victory on home court.

Missouri Baptist (19-1, 6-0 AMC) dominated the first set from the first serve and never looked back. The Spartans recorded six service aces, three of which by Molly DeClue, in a 25-9 win

The second set started in much the same fashion, though the Trojans picked up the pace. Hannibal took advantage of just three attack errors by Missouri Baptist, but were unable to produce consistent pressure. The Spartans posted a .375 attack percentage and held HLG to a -.033 percentage in a 25-14 win.

MBU finished the match quickly in the third set. Led by Jen Brendel's two kills on three attempts in addition to two block assists, the Spartans finished-off the Trojans to collect their 17th-consecutive victory.

On the night, Molly DeClue came one ace shy of tying her career-best, which she set back on August 29 of 2012 against Benedictine-Springfield. Hannah Carey, on the other hand, did tie a personal best at five service aces of her own.

The Spartans will hit the road for two matches in Columbia, Mo. as they face Stephens College and Columbia College on Monday and Tuesday. The team will return home on Friday to compete in the second-annual Spartan Invitational. Columbia College, Grand View University and MBU will represent the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 as Cornerstone University, Friends University and Trinity International will also travel to St. Louis.
