SPARTAN MEN’S TENNIS DELIVERS AT LINDENWOOD-BELLEVILLE

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist men's tennis posted its first win of the season on Friday in a 7-2 victory at Lindenwood University-Belleville.

Missouri Baptist (1-1) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead early by sweeping doubles play. MBU's No. 1 team of Mike Rubinelli and Drew Morris posted a quick 8-3 win over Lindenwood's Eduardo Garcia and Asad Shakoor.

At No. 2 doubles, the brothers' Stevenson (Connor and Cole) teamed-up for an 8-5 win while the No. 3 duo of Kirk Taas and Ian Furey won their match 8-3. The three wins put the Spartans in the driver's seat and needed just two victories in singles to guarantee a win.

Drew Morris started things off in singles with a 6-3, 4-6, 10-7 win over Garcia as the Spartans rolled through the match. Mike Rubinelli, Connor Stevenson and Ian Furey all posted straight set victories at No. 2, 3, and 4 respectively to secure the win.

The Lynx grabbed wins at No. 5 and No. 6 to post their only two points of the match.
