ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist posted one victory over the weekend in two difficult matches against Washington University and Missouri Valley College. After suffering a 9-0 loss to the Bears on Friday, the team dropped its second of the weekend to Vikings, 8-1.
Missouri Baptist struggled over the weekend, but did play at a high level at times, especially at No. 1 and No. 2. In doubles, Mike Rubinelli and Drew Morris played extremely well and received narrow defeats. Against Washington University's Max Franklin and Naveen Chadalavada, the team lost 8-6. On Saturday, MBU's No. 1 duo nearly broke through, but lost to Missouri Valley's Wesley Ny and Brock Hughes 9-7.
The lone victory of the weekend came on Saturday. Morris won his match against Lucas Oliverio 5-7, 6-4, 10-6. Morris, the sophomore from Kirkwood, Mo. played at a high level throughout the weekend.
The Spartans are scheduled to take on Concordia Seminary next on Tuesday, April 16 at 4:30 p.m. at Concordia.
