ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist dropped just one court against Concordia Seminary on Wednesday in an 8-1 victory.
The Spartans took all three doubles matches as both the teams of Tanner Morris/Conner Stevenson and Ian Furey and Kirk Taas won at No. 2 and No. 3 8-0.
In singles play, Tyler Cissell and Ryan Mingerton saw their first action of the year and both posted victories at No. 5 and No. 6. Mingerton's match against Ben Micheel was the most exciting. Mingerton took the first set 6-4, but Micheel battled mack to tie it. In the tiebreak set, Mingerton edged his opponent 10-8 to collect a big win.
Overall, MBU improved to 2-7, a record that is indicative of an extremely tough schedule. The team has stepped-up the level of its opponent this season and has steadily improved as a result.
