BROSCH POSTS 9 GOALS IN LACROSSE ROUT OF JUDSON

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – Missouri Baptist posted 13 first-half goals, six of which were from Ian Brosch and dominated the remainder of the game to grab a 21-15 victory in the quarterfinal match of the GRLC Tournament over the Judson Eagles.

Missouri Baptist trailed early but came back quickly in the first quarter. Judson's Landon Baron gave the Eagles a 1-0 lead just three minutes into the contest. The Spartans came roaring back, however. Alex Short opened the scoring for MBU just four minutes later to tie the match at one.

The remainder of the first quarter belonged to Ian Brosch. The Spartan's leading scorer posted an astounding four goals in the first 15 minutes to lead MBU to a 6-3 lead heading into the second quarter.

After the break, things continued in much the same way. Brosch posted his fifth goal at the 14:21 mark of the quarter and extended the Spartan lead to 7-3. The Eagles' Jacob Ettelbrick got that goal back just over two minutes later to make it a 7-4 match, but Missouri Baptist continued to pressure. In addition to Brosch, Aaron McClintock posted his second and third goals of the game along with single tallies from Bryan Bouas, Chase Hamernick and Sam Youngblood to give MBU a dominant 13-6 advantage at the half.

In the second half, the MBU offense slowed while Judson remained consistent. The Eagles' Ettelbrink and Baron notched their second goals of the game and led their team to bring the game back to within five as the contest entered the final 15 minutes.

Just one minute into the fourth quarter, Brosch got on the board yet again. The senior recorded his eighth of the game to make it a six-point lead for the Spartans. Though the Eagles made strides to even the contest, the MBU offense proved to be too much.

Brosch finished the game with nine goals and set a new career record for goals in a game. His previous high was set earlier this season with seven on February 23 against Oakland University.

The Spartans will advance to the semifinal round on Saturday evening when MBU will take-on Missouri State Univeristy. Opening face-off is scheduled for 7:45 p.m. at Lindenwood Field on the campus of Lindenwood University-Belleville.
