BELLEVILLE, ILL. – Another strong second half kept the Missouri Baptist men's soccer out of the loss column today, as the Spartans tied Lindenwood-Belleville, 2-2. MBU is now 1-0-1 and will take on Roosevelt University in Chicago on Friday.
Lindenwood-Belleville took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but the Spartans were determined to turn the pressure up in the second stanza.
The Spartans trailed 2-0 with 24 minutes remaining in regulation, but Joe Wonsewith nailed his second goal of the season on a pass from Oscar Rojas, cutting the deficit to 2-1.
Just three minutes later, Alen Palislamovic found the back of the net to tie the game up at 2-2. It was Palislamovic's second goal of the year.
Missouri Baptist and the Lynx went into overtime, but neither team could score the winning goal.
Corbin Rodriguez made three saves on the night, one in the first half and two in the second.
Wonsewith led the Spartans with two shots on goal on six shots. Todd D'Aquila, Tyler Kuehner, Greg Kranz, Rojas, and Palislamovic each added one shot on goal.
The Spartans travel to Chicago on Friday to take on Roosevelt University.
