ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist women's volleyball finished its southern swing through Arkansas with another victory on Saturday. The Spartans held Williams Baptist College to a .076 attack percentage on the way to a 3-0 win in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
Missouri Baptist (11-1, 3-0 AMC) won its ninth match in a row and third in the conference thanks to big play out of the middle. Seniors Madeline Nesbit and Kayleigh Cox both finished with double-digit kill totals and put the Eagles on their heels from start to finish. Nesbit posted 13 kills, two block assists and a .500 attack percentage while Cox finished with 11 kills, one block assist and a .400 attack percentage.
MBU's Ally Krus was again at the center of the action. The setter from St. Louis ran the offense to near perfection, racking-up 48 assists for an average of 16 per set. Krus is currently in the top three nationally and will likely move-up after averaging near 14 assists per set over the course of both matches this week.
Emily Umbaugh led the Eagles on the day with seven kills and a .545 attack percentage. The outside hitter had her best match of the season thus far in the losing effort.
With the win, Missouri Baptist improved to 11-1 on the year and will complete its three-match road trip on Tuesday at Lindenwood University (Mo.). First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at the Hyland Performance Arena.
