MBU WINS FIRST OF SOUTHERN SWING

ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist women's volleyball took the first of two matches over the weekend in Arkansas with a three-set sweep of Lyon College on Friday night, 25-13, 25-13, 25-13.

Missouri Baptist (10-1, 2-0 AMC) extended its season-long winning streak to eight matches after a dominant performance against the Scots in Batesville, Ark. As a team the offense compiled a .312 attack percentage on the way to the second conference win of the year.

Sophomore right-side hitter Hannah Carey led the attack with nine kills and an attack percentage of .571. She also chipped in four service aces and five assisted blocks in the win. Sophomore Ally Krus was also impressive. The setter averaged 12 assists per game in the victory. Krus currently ranks third in the NAIA in assists per game with a season average of 11.31.

The Spartans will now attempt to become the first team in the AMC in 2013 to record three conference wins when they take on the Williams Baptist Eagles on Saturday. First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Walnut Ridge, Ark.
