ST. LOUIS – [Box Score] The Missouri Baptist women's volleyball team honored its four seniors by winning in straight sets over Lyon College (25-11, 25-19, and 25-21). The four Spartan seniors were: Molly DeClue, Cassie Nesbit, Tori Waser, and Katie Green.
Head coach delivered this message to the crowd about his four seniors, "We would like to thank all you seniors for all the hard work and dedication you have put into the MBU volleyball program. You have truly taken our program to a higher level. We will miss you very much and you will always be a part of our MBU Volleyball family."
No. 7 Missouri Baptist (32-2, 11-1 AMC) dominated from start to finish, holding the Scots (13-21, 5-7 AMC) to a -.020 attack percentage. MBU hit .276 in the contest, firing 41 kills and 14 errors on 98 swings.
Junior Hannah Carey was explosive for the navy and white. She drilled ten kills on 11 swings with just one attack error in two sets.
Sophomore Mallory Dillon, who played just two sets, led the Spartans with 12 kills on 25 swings. She added a dig and three block assists.
Senior Molly DeClue posted seven kills and two errors on 22 swings. She added five digs and one block assist.
Junior Ally Krus led the Spartans with 34 assists over three sets, while adding nine digs.

In the first set, the Spartans came out firing on all cylinders, as they posted a match-best .444 attack percentage. After Lyon tied the set at 7-7, MBU exploded for a 11-2 run to take control, 18-9.
The Spartans closed out the set by scoring the final three points and won, 25-11.
In set two, the Scots used two MBU attack errors to take an early 2-0 lead, but the Spartans roared back for four straight points.
Lyon cut the deficit to 13-11 after two consecutive aces, but Missouri Baptist was able to gain enough cushion to maintain the lead.
The last several points of the set were puzzling for both MBU and Lyon. The Spartans went up 21-15 in the set, but the officials deemed that MBU used an illegal libero substitution, which resulted in a three-point reversal. After the details were sorted out to both coaches, Lyon would have the serve, trailing just 19-17.
Just a few plays later, the Spartans went back to serve with a 22-18 lead, but were called for being out of rotation. That caused another lengthy delay, which ended in the Scots receiving another point.
MBU was able to rally to take the set victory, 25-19, after Dillon blasted three consecutive kills to end it. The Spartans hit .273 in the set, while the Scots hit a match-high .031.
In the third set, the Spartans used a mixed balance of scoring to gain a 20-13, but the Scots took over the momentum with a 7-3 run. Missouri Baptist scored the next point to set up match point, but head coach Chris Nichols called a timeout to honor the seniors one last time.
With the crowd on their feet and applauding for the four seniors, the Spartans were able to end the match by picking up a kill by Hannah Carey.
The Spartans ended American Midwest Conference play with an 11-1 record and will take the No. 2 seed into the conference tournament.
