SPARTANS SUFFER LOSS IN GETAWAY GAME

SIOUX CITY, Iowa – [BOX SCOREMissouri Baptist dug themselves a nine-point hole after the first 20 minutes of Friday's game against Lyon College and never recovered in a 76-57 loss in Batesville, Ark.

Missouri Baptist (1-7, 1-3 AMC) struggled out of the gate as the Scots quickly shot-out to an 11-1 lead in the first five minutes of the contest. The Spartans shot just over 64 percent in the first half, but recorded just 17 shots in the half as Lyon College forced 13 MBU turnovers in the first 20 minutes.

After trailing by nine at the half, Missouri Baptist looked to come back, but the Scots stayed true to its game plan. Lyon had four players finish in double digits on the way to its third conference win of the season.

The Spartans were led in the game by Cherish Walton. The transfer from William Jewell posted 12 points and six rebounds in just 15 minutes on the court. Taylor Klingelhoefer rounded-out the Spartans in double-digits with 11 points.

Lyon was led by Carina Jackson and Taylor Gaedke. The duo combined for 24 points, 12 a piece while Jackson finished with a double-double (10 assists).

Missouri Baptist will next head to Freed-Hardeman on Dec. 18 to take-on the NAIA No. 2-ranked Lions. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
