ST. LOUIS – [RESULTS] Missouri Baptist men's tennis took one singles and one doubles match, but was overpowered by Principia on Tuesday evening, 7-2.

Missouri Baptist (2-5) nearly took all three doubles matches as the final score is far from the true story of this match. At No. 1 doubles, Drew Morris and Ian Furey came-up just short with an 8-6 loss while Tanner Morris and Sean Nanney took No. 2 doubles to the brink.

The MBU No. 2 tandem suffered a tough loss to Nate Waters and Kenny Sydness 9-8 (7-4) in the tiebreak. Instead of taking the top two doubles matches, the team entered singles play down 2-1 after a win at No. 3 thanks to the solid play of Conner Stevenson and Kyle Stickler.

In singles action, Drew Morris led things off with a tough match against Jason Wissman. Morris, a junior from Kirkwood, Mo., dropped the first set 6-1, but rallied for a 7-6 tiebreak win to set-up a final set. Wissman took the finale 6-2 and picked-up the third point for Principia in the process.

On the other side of a tight match was Conner Stevenson. The junior dropped his first set in a 7-6 tiebreak to Andrew Rohrer, but stormed back to take the final two sets 6-2 and 6-0 to grab the second and final match for MBU.

Sean Nanney split with Kenny Sydness in the first two sets and went down to the wire. Sydness, however, became the victor with a 7-6 tiebreak win.

Missouri Baptist's next match is scheduled at home on Saturday, March 29 as the Spartans play host to Graceland. First serve is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
