ST. LOUIS – [RESULTS] Missouri Baptist men's tennis shut-out the Baker Wildcats 3-0 in doubles play on Tuesday and completed the match with a solid finish in singles to take a 7-2 win in Baldwin City, Kan.
Missouri Baptist (3-6, 1-1) took care of business against the Wildcats in dominant fashion. Drew Morris led the team with wins at both singles and doubles while not dropping a single game in either.
Ian Furey, Sean Nanney and Cody Taplin also picked-up singles wins while Kyle Stickler also won in doubles, teamed with Furey at No. 3.
The Closest match of the day was Furey's No. 4 singles match against Aaron Greenbaum. The Spartan junior dropped his first set as Greenbaum won in convincing fashion 1-6. Furey responded by taking the second set 6-3 and the tiebreak set 10-6.
Conner Stevenson also went to a tiebreak at No. 2 singles, but things did not turn-out as well for the junior. Stevenson won the first set 6-3, but dropped the second 2-6, sending the match to a tiebreak against Baker's Zach Aldrich.
Stevenson came-up just short in the final set as Aldrich won 10-7.
Missouri Baptist will take-on Concordia Seminary in the team's next match on Thursday. First serve is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. in Clayton, Mo.
