ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist men's lacrosse squad ended on the wrong end of the scoreboard in a closely contested game against Washington University of St. Louis, 4-2. The loss ended the season for the Spartans.
The Bears jumped on the board first, when they scored just 3:12 into the game.
Wash U added another goal with 2:00 left in the 1st quarter to take a 2-0 lead.
Mike Howle cut the deficit in half when he ripped a goal past the Bear goalie with 12:14 left in the 2ndquarter.
The Bears extended its lead to 3-1 with a goal as the horn sounded to end the half.
Wash U took a commanding 4-1 lead with a goal with 3:49 left in the 3rd quarter, but the Spartans would not go down without a fight.
Aaron McClintock blasted a goal with only 36.6 seconds left in the quarter to cut the Bear lead to 4-2.
Both teams played a strong 4th quarter, but neither team could get one in the net, ending with Wash U on top, 4-2.
Missouri Baptist ends the 2014 season with a record of 9-7, which matches the 9-7 mark from the 2013 season.
