KRUS AND COMPANY CRUISE TO VICTORY OVER COLLEGE OF PHARMACY

ST. LOUIS – [Box Score] The Missouri Baptist women's volleyball team welcomed Saint Louis College of Pharmacy into the American Midwest Conference by defeating the Eutectics tonight, 3-1 (25-17, 25-13, 22-25, 25-15). The victory improved the Spartans to 14-1 overall, and 3-0 in AMC play.

Sophomore Jen Brendel led the team with 12 kills on 22 swings, while also recording four aces, two digs, and one solo block. Freshman Kristina Medanovic posted 10 kills with no errors on 18 attacks.

Junior Haley Pouliezos recorded 32 digs over the four sets. She also had four assists.

Junior Ally Krus posted 35 assists, two aces, two kills, and eight digs in the match to earn the Hampton Inn & Suites Star of the Match.

No. 19 Missouri Baptist took complete control of the match by soundly defeating STLCOP in the first two sets. Sophomore sensation Jen Brendel recorded ten kills over the first two games to lead the way for MBU.

The Spartans hit a solid .352 in the second set en route to a dominating 25-13 victory. Junior Ally Krus recorded 14 assists in the game, while Brendel led MBU with six kills on ten swings.

In the third set, head coach Chris Nichols gave some fresh players a chance at showing their worth. Freshman setter Mercedes Jones took over Krus' duties, and dished out 13 assists. Catie Ward relieved Haley Pouliezos as the libero, and recorded 11 digs. Senior Cassie Nesbit led the way in the game with five kills on 13 swings, but the Spartans would be edged in the set, 25-22, sending the match to a fourth set.

In that set, Missouri Baptist suffocated STLCOP with a .315 attack percentage on 38 swings. The Spartans pounded 15 kills in the set. Krus dished 13 assists, had one kill, and two digs. Pouliezos posted 14 digs in the set, while freshman Kristina Medanovic drilled five kills on eight swings.

Missouri Baptist will travel to Lincoln, Ill. to take on Monmouth College and Lincoln Christian in a Tri-Match on Saturday.
