SPARTANS DOWN BOBCATS IN FOUR

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] The No. 2 Missouri Baptist women's volleyball team defeated College of the Ozarks (Mo.) three sets to one (25-10, 25-21, 21-25, 25-16) on Tuesday.

The Spartans (28-3, 9-0) controlled the first set from beginning to end.  MBU recorded its highest hitting percentage of 0.581 while the Bobcats recorded their second lowest percentage of the set of 0.139.

College of the Ozarks began to push the Spartans in the second set and posted just two kills less than MBU. However, Missouri Baptist rounded out the set for a 25-21 win.

The Bobcats were persistent and in set three were able to hold the advantage long enough to take a set from Missouri Baptist. College of the Ozarks recorded its highest hitting percentage of the match of 0.233.

Missouri Baptist once again held control in set four and closed out the match with a 25-16 win. The Spartans held the Bobcats to a hitting percentage of 0.050 and eight kills in the final set.

Mallory Dillon led the offense with 19 kills, eight digs, and two service aces. Right behind Dillon was Hannah Carey. The 6-1 right side posted a double-double on the night with 13 kills and a new season high of 17 digs as well as three service aces.

Kristina Medanovic and Logan Menemeyer had a big night as well. Medanovic recorded seven kills and no errors off of a total of 14 swings for a hitting percentage of 0.467. Menemeyer recorded the highest hitting percentage for the team on the night. The middle blocker posted four kills with no errors off of six swings for a hitting percentage of 0.667.

Ally Krus fed the offense with 52 kills in the match for an impressive average of 13 assists per set.

Haley Pouliezos led the defense with a total of 39 digs for a new season-high that is just one dig short of matching her career-high. The libero posted an outstanding average of 9.75 digs per set.

The Spartans will take the hardwood again on Oct. 21 as they travel to John Brown University (Ark.).
