SPARTANS REMAIN UNDEFEATED IN CONFERENCE

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist women's volleyball team opened the week with a sweep of William Woods University (Mo.) on Tuesday.  

The Spartans (30-3, 10-0) had a rough start to set one as the Owls took the advantage right away. But Missouri Baptist rallied, took its first lead of the set and went on a 6-0 run. MBU held that lead to conclude set one 25-14.

Point for point the teams battled from the lead with 33 ties in set two alone. The Owls pushed MBU past 25 but Taylor Cook gave the Spartans just the push they needed with a kill and an ace to take set two 30-28. The Spartans recorded their highest hitting percentage of 0.406.

Missouri Baptist held control of set three as they closed out the match with a 25-20 set three win.  The Spartans held William Woods to its lowest hitting percentage on the night with a percentage of 0.088.

Mallory Dillon led the Spartans with 16 kills on the night and a hitting percentage of 0.481. Hannah Careynotched a double-double on the night with 12 kills and 10 digs.  

Ally Krus directed the offense with ease and recorded a total of 44 assists on the night for an impressive 14.67 assists per set.

Haley Pouliezos held strong in the back court with 15 total digs on the night for an average of five digs per set.

The Spartans will now look to play No. 9 Park University on Thursday, Oct. 29 in the AMC Game of the Week.
