ST. LOUIS [BOX SCORE] – Missouri Baptist surrendered four first-half goals in the team's 6-0 loss to Park (Mo.) University Saturday afternoon.
The Spartans (2-7) have now dropped five straight games. The first of four-straight road games featured a four-goal first half for Park.
Mario Erpel helped the Pirates jump out in front with a goal in the 4th minute. Gerrardo Espinoza recorded two shots for Missouri Baptist before Nicolas Andre gave the Pirates a 2-0 lead in the 23rd minute. Rodolfo Lopez was credited with the assist.
Less than two minutes later, Erpel tallied his second goal of the game to extend the Park lead to three. The Pirates final goal of the half took place in the 44th minute when Ignacio Flores snuck one past Spartan goalie Brenden Carnahan and inside the right post.
Missouri Baptist trailed 4-0 after the first 45 minutes and took three shots in total. The second half also featured two Park goals.
The Pirates played virtually the entire second half with a one-man advantage after Chad Otec was whistled for a red card. Park took advantage beginning with a Tim Kloster header in the 50th minute to make the score 5-0.
Lopez scored the final goal for Park in the 70th minute.
The Spartans play again on Wednesday against Lindenwood University-Belleville.
