ST. LOUIS – The Missouri Baptist Men's Wrestling team cruised to its first win of the 2015 season with a 48-7 win over Central Baptist on Tuesday.

The Mustangs forfeited three of the first four weight classes allowing Missouri Baptist to jump out to an 18-3 lead. Matthew Fehr added to the Spartan lead by defeating Matthew McKenna by fall in just over one minute in the 157lb weight class. After five individual matches, the Spartans led 24-3.

Jake Mattson lost a tough match in the 165lb weight class by major decision, but the Spartans rebounded to take the next two by forfeit. Heading into the final two matches, Missouri Baptist led 36-7.

Andrew Mahone and Devol Whitfield secured the win with victories by fall in their respective weight classes. Mahone defeated Matthew Jones in 1:03 to notch six points and Whitfield defeated his opponent in 4:06 to close out the dominant 48-7 win.

The men return to the mat on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Coe Turkey Invite.
