Sioux City, Iowa - [BOX SCORE] The Missouri Baptist women's volleyball team defeated College of Idaho 3-1 (20-25, 25-22, 25-15, 26-24) in the second match of pool play in the NAIA National Tournament at the Tyson Event Center on Tuesday.
Set one started with both teams fighting for control until College of Idaho went on a run and took the lead. The Coyotes capitalized on that lead and overcame the Spartans 25-20.
College of Idaho held MBU to their lowest hitting percentage (0.089) in the set.
Set two Missouri Baptist came off the bench ready to take the momentum back. The teams fought tooth and nail for each point as the set ended with 15 total ties.
The Spartans notched their highest number of kills in at set at 20.
Set three Missouri Baptist began to hit its stride and really take control.
MBU recorded its highest hitting percentage in a set at 0.500 and held College of Idaho to their lowest hitting percentage at 0.103.
In set four the Spartans dug deep and closed out the match for a 3-1 win over the Coyotes.
MBU bested College of Idaho with a hitting percentage that was 0.196 greater than that of the Coyotes.
Mallory Dillon led the Spartans with 22 kills in the match. Logan Mennemeyer recorded the team's best hitting percentage of 0.750 and notched zero errors.
Kristina Medanovic also had a big match with 15 kills of her own.
Ally Krus had another impressive game with 59 total assists for an average of 14.75.
Haley Pouliezos held strong for the defense with a total of 26 digs for an average of 6.5 digs per set.
The team will take the court again on Thursday, Dec. 3, for their third and final match of pool play against Rocky Mountain (Mont.)
