LYNX HAND SPARTANS HEART-BREAKING OVERTIME LOSS

BELLEVILLE, Ill. – [BOX SCORE] Torre Kohrman's free throw with nine seconds left in overtime helped Lindenwood-Belleville stun Missouri Baptist 77-76 Saturday afternoon at Lynx Arena.

Kohrman gave the Lynx (2-8, 2-2) its second straight win. She connected on the game-winning free throw after scoring a layup through contact to tie the game at 76. Jerica Hawkins' shot to win fell short and the Spartans (3-3, 2-1) left Belleville with their first conference loss.

The back-and-forth game featured 17 ties and 13 lead changes. Angela Talley scored with 15 seconds left in overtime to put Missouri Baptist up 76-74, but they couldn't hang on. Talley recorded her first double-double of the season with 19 points and 12 rebounds.

Neither team managed to pull away from its opponent. However, the Spartans held their largest lead with 8:53 left in regulation. A steal and score from Hawkins put Missouri Baptist up 60-52 in the fourth quarter. Hawkins also finished with a double-double, recording 20 points and 12 rebounds.

A bucket from Morgan Settle kept the eight-point advantage with 6:39 remaining. But the Lynx answered with an 8-0 run to tie the game at 62-62 with 3:15 left. Kindra Brown and Rilea Huff contributed for seven of the eight points during the run. Brown finished with a team-high 26 points and Huff hit six 3-pointers and finished with 23.

Lindenwood-Belleville forced a turnover with the Spartans leading 66-65 with 23 seconds left. Danna Jenkins fouled Brown going in for the layup and was called for a technical. Brown hit both free throws and Huff made two more after Missouri Baptist fouled again to take a 69-66 lead with 19 seconds to go.

Talley came through with a huge 3-pointer to tie the game and send it into overtime. The Lynx nearly won in regulation, but missed a layup as time expired.

Kennedy Smith also finished in double-figures for the Spartans with 13 points. Jenkins had a team-high eight assists.

The Spartans fought back from a 34-30 halftime deficit, but couldn't come out with the victory. They'll try and get back on the winning track Dec. 17 against Lyon College.
