SPARTANS FALL TO PIRATES

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCOREMissouri Baptist women's basketball shot just 26 percent from the floor on Thursday night as the Spartans fell to the Park Pirates in American Midwest Conference action, 62-45.

Missouri Baptist (7-18, 7-14 AMC) played right with the Pirates for the opening 13 minutes, but struggled with turnovers down the stretch. Over the course of the contest, Missouri Baptist committed 21 turnovers as Park posted 15 steals on the night.

The Spartans trailed by just two points with 16:19 remaining in the contest, but Park followed-up with a 10-0 run, which MBU was unable to recover from.

As the second half got underway, Park continued to pressure Missouri Baptist with a strong defense. Just two Pirates finished in double digits as the team from Parkville shot just 28 percent in the final 20 minutes.

Missouri Baptist was led by Cherish Walton. The sophomore from Columbia, Mo., finished with 13 points and five rebounds. Morgan Settle completed her night with 12 points and three blocks and was the only other to record double-digit point totals for MBU. Settle also finished with three blocks in the contest.

Missouri Baptist will have just 48 hours to prepare for the Columbia College Cougars on Saturday afternoon. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. at the friendly confines of the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex.
