ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist women's basketball had a rough shooting afternoon in the team's final regular season contest of the season. The William Woods Owls held the Spartans to under 30 percent from the floor in a 63-43 loss at the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex.
Missouri Baptist (8-20, 8-16 AMC) struggled offensively in the team's final home game of the season as the William Woods Owls held-on to third place in the AMC with the victory.
Spartan forward Jasmine Jackson recorded the game's first field goal of the contest to give MBU its only lead of the game. From this point forward, the Owls put together a 14-2 run and began to pull away to a 36-14 lead after the first 20 minutes.
The Spartans picked it up in the second half. The team shot 34 percent in the second half and held the Owls to 27 points, but it was not enough.
Jasmine Jackson led Missouri Baptist on the afternoon. The junior came two shy of a double-double with 16 points and eight rebounds.
Nia Lateju was equally impressive for the Owls. The season point leader for the Owls led her squad with 15 points and three blocks.
Missouri Baptist will be back in action on Monday when it will head to Harris-Stowe for the first round of the American Midwest Conference Tournament. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. at Harris-Stowe.
