ST. LOUIS - [Box Score] - After being down by eight at halftime, Missouri Baptist cut the lead to two with two minutes left before Lindenwood-Belleville closed the game out 65-62.
In a contest filled with 34 total fouls, Missouri Baptist (6-15, 6-11 AMC) sank 20 out of 28 free throws while LUB was 11 for 15.
Lindenwood-Belleville moved the ball and spaced the floor effectively by recording 19 assists while Missouri Baptist struggled with only 8. Both teams ran up turnovers with MBU winning the category with only 12 to the Lynx's 13.
Lindenwood-Belleville had four starters score in double-figures, which included a 19-point and seven-rebound night from guard Shelby Kohrmann and a double-double of 10 points and rebounds from forward Jasmine Gibbs-Brown.
Morgan Settle played another impressive game with 17 points on 50 percent shooting with six rebounds and a block. Settle also shot perfectly from the charity stripe, converting seven free throws. Along with Settle, Aimee Iverson was the only player to score in double-figures with 10 on five for seven shooting from the floor. During a comeback stride late in the second half, freshman Madison German stepped up with a critical three pointer and two free throws while only playing 7:46 minutes.
Coming out of a timeout with 14 seconds left, trailing 65-62, Missouri Baptist in-bounded the ball to Iverson. The ball moved around until Jerica Hawkins's three point attempt just fell short.
Missouri Baptist will take a few days off before a rematch with the Lynx on Feb. 12. Tip-off is scheduled at 5:30 p.m. at Lindenwood Belleville.
