ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE MNU] [BOX SCORE STU] Missouri Baptist women's volleyball finished the day with a sweep of MidAmerica Nazarene (Kan.) (25-19, 25-23, 25-15) and St. Thomas University (Fla.) (25-23, 25-14, 28-26) on Friday evening in Miami, Fla.
Missouri Baptist (5-0) notched the first point of game one against MNU off of the powerful swing of Mallory Dillon. MBU pressed MidAmerica Nazarene and closed out the first set 25-19.
The Pioneers tried to take the following set and made things interesting. The momentum shifted, however, in favor of Missouri Baptist with a kill from Kristina Medanovic and the team rode that momentum all the way to a two point 25-23 win.
The Spartans controlled the third set with an early lead. After a change in the lineup Missouri Baptist continued their scoring advance to their fourth sweep of the season.
Game two of the day against St. Thomas University was a battle. The teams traded points back and forth throughout the set as the Spartans fought for a 25-23 win.
MBU took control of game two and cruised right to a 25-14 win.
St. Thomas pushed Missouri Baptist to the brink in game three. The Bobcats took the lead from the Spartans and STU arrived at set point twice. MBU held its own and came from behind to finish with a high scoring game of 28-26.
Mallory Dillon had the hot hand and posted 31 kills on the day. Hannah Carey followed with 18 kills of her own.
Missouri Baptist will close out their time in Miami on Saturday, Aug. 29, against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.).
