ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORES] The Missouri Baptist women's volleyball team defeated American Midwest Conference opponent Stephens College (Mo.) 3-0 (25-14, 25-16, 25-19) on Friday evening.
The Spartans (13-1, 2-0) had control of the match from the start, however, the Stars kept MBU on its toes throughout the first set. A big overpass kill from Mallory Dillon put Missouri Baptist over 20 points and well on its way to game point.
The MBU defense held strong through the first set and held Stephens to a -0.042 attack percentage.
The Stars tied the score three times in the second game, but their determination was not enough to stop the Spartans' strong middle attack as the team finished with the 25-16 set win.
Missouri Baptist took a commanding five point lead to start things off in the third game. The Spartans held that lead through the entirety of the set and, with a kill from Dillon, MBU closed out its second conference game with a win.
Kristina Medanovic has a big night from the middle with 11 kills. The Serbian also posted an impressive 0.667 hitting percentage. Hannah Carey followed closely behind with 10 kills of her own.
Missouri Baptist will return to the hardwood on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 to face another AMC opponent in Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.). First serve is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex.
