SPARTANS STAY STRONG IN CONFERENCE

ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE]  The Missouri Baptist women's volleyball team plunged back into conference play with a 3-0 (25-17, 25-8, 25-12) sweep of Lyon College on Friday evening. 

The Spartans (15-1, 5-0) were on top of their game in set one and held their highest hitting percentage of the game at 0.483 with 17 kills. Kristina Medanovic was big for MBU in the set with six kills. Hannah Carey recorded an impressive five kills with no errors in the set as Taylor Cook contributed four kills of her own. Setter Ally Krus had an outstanding 17 assists in the set.

MBU held strong in set two with very little difference in hitting percentage (0.471) and 10 kills in the set. Cook and Medanovic continued to find the holes with three kills apiece.

Fresh blood entered the lineup as Catie WardMarion Couraud and Natalie Gremaud took the court in the third game of the night. Gremaud recorded an amazing 13 assists as she let the offense to 14 kills. Mallory Dillon came out strong in set three with eight kills and a 0.667 hitting percentage.  Libero Haley Pouliezos continued her strong play through and notched an outstanding 14 digs in set three.

Medonavic and Dillon led the Spartans with 10 kills apiece on the night. Carey and Cook followed right behing with eight and seven kills respectively. 

Missouri Baptist will remain on the road to face another conference opponent Williams Baptist on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015.
