GAME PREVIEW: MBU VS. SAINT AMBROSE (IOWA)

ST. AMBROSE (3-3) at MISSOURI BAPTIST (2-5)

THE GAME: Missouri Baptist University will play the eighth game of its 2016  schedule on Saturday, October 22 at 2:00pm when they face the St. Ambrose (Iowa) Fighting Bees in St. Louis, Mo.

NON-CONFERENCE SETBACK: Missouri Baptist struggled to put points on the board in its last game on the road against Olivet Nazarene. The MBU offense was off for the first time in three weeks, but can right the ship on homecoming this week with a win over the Fighting Bees. The defense in the last game, however, set two records, one in the first half. MBU set a new sacks record with 10, eight of which were in the first half. They also set a new record in tackles for a loss with 18

OVERCOMING INJURIES: MBU was without two of its most explosive freshmen a week ago in Isaiah King and Kendell Davis. If one or both are back this week, it could spell trouble for the St. Ambrose defense.

SCOUTING ST. AMBROSE: The Fighting Bees have put together a nice season and are looking to move above the .500 plateau for the first time in 2016. After dropping their first two games, the Bees grabbed wins over LU-Belleville and Trinity International to even their record. Last week, the team put together its most exciting win of the year, a 38-31 overtime victory at home against conference opponent, St. Xavier (Ill.).

Joey Zito leads the rush for the Fighting Bees in 2016. The senior running back is averaging 93 yards per game and has six touchdowns this season, including two last week.

Quarterback Patrick Smith has also been stellar. The senior out of Sacred Heart-Griffin has 16 touchdowns on the year and four in the win over St. Xavier last week. This season he has passed for 1722 yards in six games.

FOR THE RECORD: MBU is is looking for three wins for the first time in team history... Maleek Ross set a new single-game and career sack record after his 4.5 sack performance a week ago... The defense also set new team sack and TFL records
