ST. LOUIS- [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Volleyball was in action on Friday afternoon against Vanguard University (Calif.). The Spartans made quick work of the Lions with a 3-0 sweep (25-18, 25-15, 25-23).

MBU got off to a fast start in the opening set and Vanguard could not find their footing. The Spartans led by as many nine before settling the set at 25-18. Mallory Dillon delivered kills on the first three points of the day and finished just the first set with eight kills in total.

In the second set, the Spartans once again made it through unthreatened, cruising to a 25-15 victory.

Vanguard would not go quietly in set three, however. The Lions kept it close throughout until Cate Cigarinifinished it off with her seventh kill of the day. The Spartans never trailed in any of the three sets.

Mallory Dillon was a force to be reckoned with nine kills in the third set. The senior finished the afternoon with 20 kills on 38 attempts for a .368 hitting percentage.

Cate Cigarini hit .400 with seven kills on 15 attempts. The Italian also posted two solo blocks and three block assists. She rounded out the stat line with two service aces.

Megan Huffman and Natalie Gremaud split the digs category. Huffman posted 10 digs to go along with 30 assists, while Gremaud led the way with 11 digs.

In total, the Spartans posted a .292 team hitting percentage with 49 digs, and six total team blocks, marking one of their best three set performances of the year.

The win moved Missouri Baptist's record to 24-6. It's now conference play from here on out, as William Woods makes a visit on Tuesday, October 25 at 7 pm and the No. 6 ranked Park Pirates come to town next Thursday, October 27, also a 7 pm start time.
