Missouri Baptist (1-4) at Lindenwood-Belleville (0-4)
THE GAME: Missouri Baptist University will play the sixth game of its 2016 schedule on Saturday, October 8 at 1:00pm when they face the Lindenwood University - Belleville Lynx in Belleville, Ill.
FIRST WIN: Missouri Baptist needed all 60 minutes on Saturday, October 1 to squeak out its first win of the season against the Taylor Trojans. Quarterback Gunnar Griffin was dynamic as he set Spartan records for passing (481 yds), passing touchdowns (4), overall touchdowns (5), passing attempts (46), completed passes (28) and longest pass completion (78 yds). Griffin became the second Spartan in history to be named MSFA Mideast Player of the Week.
KP REGAINS DOMINANCE: Kalen Petty was the toughest man to bring down on Saturday, Oct. 1 against Taylor. The junior tight end rumbled through the middle all day for 168 yards and set a new receiving high in the process. He finished the day with one touchdown, a key 27-yard strike with 15 seconds remaining in the first half.
SCOUTING LU-Belleville: It has been a tough season for the Lynx in 2016 as the team has struggled to find its identity. With the loss at the end of 2015 of Kam Harris, the team's leading rusher, LU has not found a rhythm on offense.
The Lynx feature an NCAA Division I FCS transfer in Darrien Boone at quarterback. The 6-3, 215lb junior from Chicago has thrown for 773 yards in 2016 and has averaged 193.3 yards per game.
Similar to MBU, a tight end is one of the leading receivers for the Lynx this season. Belleville West High School product Donnie Foster has led the team with 23 receptions and 216 yards this season.
FOR THE RECORD: MBU is is looking for back-to-back wins for the first time in team history.. Gunnar Griffin became the second Spartan to earn MSFA Mideast Player of the Week honors in team history... Griffin became the first 400-yard passer in team history, leading the team to a 43-42 win over Taylor.
