Box Score ST. LOUIS- [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Volleyball cruised to a three-set victory over Hannibal-LaGrange on Tuesday night (25-13, 25-12, 25-12).
Mallory Dillon, Natalie Gremaud, Catie Ward, Mary Krause, and Jenny Stillwell were honored prior to the match as one of the best senior classes in MBU Volleyball history.
The Spartans stormed out of the gates. With Kamden Mass on the service line, they took 11 of the first 12 points. The undermanned Trojans could not right the ship and MBU seized the first set 25-13.
The next two sets were more of the same for the Spartans. Hannibal hung tough in set two before the home team broke it open with a 16-5 run. It was a similar story in the third set as MBU emptied the bench in a 25-12 route. The lopsided score allowed Head Coach Chris Nichols to sub out all his seniors and give them a well-deserved sendoff.
The final stat sheet showed some gaudy numbers for Missouri Baptist. Cate Cigarini hit an eye-popping .733 for one of the highest attack percentages of the season (11 kills on 15 attacks). Mallory Dillon followed close behind with 15 kills on 27 attacks for a .481 attack %.
MBU was dominant at the service line on Tuesday night. Mary Krause registered a career-high five aces to lead the Spartans. Kamden Maas also set a career-high with four aces. 11 team aces was just one short of the team-high for season.
On the defensive side, DS Catie Ward made a one-night return to libero and posted 15 digs. Natalie Gremaud moved over to outside hitter for the night, but still registered double-digit digs with 10.
The Spartans will wrap up the regular season on Thursday night when they travel to Hannibal. The second half of the home and home will be a non-conference match. The AMC conference tournament begins next Tuesday, November 8. MBU has locked up the number two seed and will host a quarterfinal matchup. Stay tuned to mbuspartans.com for more information.
