ST. LOUIS – [FINAL RESULTS] Missouri Baptist Men's Tennis took control from the outset of Monday's match and defeated NCAA D-III school Fontbonne (Mo.) 9-0.
Missouri Baptist (1-3) notched its first victory of the season and did it by only dropping two points in one set at No. 2 singles. The Spartans won all three doubles courts 8-0 and took a quick 3-0 match lead before extending its lead in singles.
James Tobin, Tanner Morris, Austin Hale, Jed Flemming and Kevin Bangert all recorded straight-set, shutout victories 6-0, 6-0.
The Spartans have yet to face-off against an NAIA squad, which it will do next week as the team prepares to face Southeastern (Fla.) over Spring Break in Florida. Southeastern, currently receiving votes in the NAIA Coaches' Top 25 Poll, had been ranked at 23 just last week.
