ST. LOUIS – Missouri Baptist Men's Tennis took control from the outset of Friday's match and defeated rated #1 in the conference Missouri Valley College (Mo.) 6-3.
Missouri Baptist (2-6) notched its second victory of the season against Missouri Valley College (Mo.) rated #1 in the coference. The Spartans won all three doubles courts and took the lead in singles.
Lucas Oliveira, James Tobin and Sean Nanney recorded doubles and singles victories.
"This team was rated #1 in our conference and was receiving votes nationally, so obviously this is a big win for us," said Head Coach Cole Stevenson. "Our season started today. This is the type of team we have to be able to beat in order to try and win conference and go to nationals, so today was a big step."
The Spartans travel to Saint Louis College of Pharmacy (Mo.) on April 2. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
