Box Score

ST. LOUIS- [BOX SCORE] Fresh off a road trip to Miami, Florida over this past weekend, Missouri Baptist Women's Volleyball was back in action on Wednesday against the Pomeroys of St. Mary-of-the-Woods.

The Spartans stormed out of the gates in the opening frame. The Poms led 6-7 early, but MBU rattled off nine consecutive points to break it wide open. MBU would capture the first set in convincing fashion (25-12).

Head Coach Chris Nichols decided to utilize his whole squad in the second and third sets, and the result was more of the same. Two freshman, Natalie Hecht and Amanda Thibodeaux, made their debuts. Darby SantosPeyton Yoder, and Marija Tosic also saw extended minutes and made the most of the opportunity.

The Pomeroys didn't go down easy, however. MBU led the second set by six at one point, before letting it slip to one at 21-20. From there, Santos, Yoder, and Tosic stepped up and secured the set for the Spartans. An ace by Santos, a kill from Yoder, and two set clinching kills from Tosic put MBU up 2-0 in the match.

The third set was another complete team effort with one notable standout. Libero Natalie Gremaud was nearly unstoppable. The senior logged six kills in the final frame to give Missouri Baptist the set and the match (25-12, 25-21, 25-23).

A season high 15 players logged minutes for Missouri Baptist in the victory.

The name at the top of the stat sheet for kills remained the same. Mallory Dillon registered 10 kills on 20 total attempts to pace the Spartans. Tina Medanovic contributed eight kills, followed by six each from Gremaud and Peyton Yoder.

Megan Huffman and Darby Santos shared the assist duties, registering 17 and 16, respectively.
