Box Score ST. LOUIS- [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Volleyball was up and at it early on Saturday morning for an AMC conference match against the Williams Baptist College Eagles. The Spartans make quick work of WBC with a 3-0 victory (16-25, 13-25, 22-25) that took a little over an hour to complete.
Middle Blocker Cate Cigarini was the story of the day for MBU. The freshman from Italy was dominant from the start, ripping off a career high 16 kills.
The Spartans were never threatened in the first two sets, claiming nine and 12 point victories, respectively.
The Eagles did not roll over, though, and gave MBU a battle in set three. Late on, Missouri Baptist's lead was just one at 23-22, before Cigarini and All-American Mallory Dillon finished the job with two kills assisted by Megan Huffman.
Huffman was fantastic yet again as she posted 44 assists from the setter position. That total almost eclipsed her career high of 46, set earlier this year against Mount Mercy.
Mallory Dillon followed close behind Cigarini in the kills category. The senior finished with 13 on 31 total attacks. Marion Couraud also made her presence felt. The junior posted eight kills on just 12 total attacks for a team-high hitting percentage of .667.
The win was the seventh in a row for Missouri Baptist and moved the overall record to 15-4. The Spartans will be back in action on Monday, September 26, away to St. Louis College of Pharmacy. They return home next Friday, September 30, for a 2015 National Championship rematch against Columbia College.
