SEASONS ENDS IN PARKVILLE FOR WOMEN'S SOCCER

ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer fell 4-2 to Park University in an AMC Quarterfinal match on Friday afternoon. The Spartans fell behind early and ran out of time in a furious comeback attempt.

MBU entered on a two game winning streak and looking to erase memories of a 4-0 defeat to Park earlier in the season. The Pirates, however, had other ideas as they started the match the same way they did in the September 20 meeting. Leading scorer Emma Chatterton scored twice in the first five minutes to spot the home side a 2-0 lead. She added another with 10 minutes remaining in the half to complete the hat trick. Maddy Russell then made it 4-0 in the 39th minute and the Pirates went into halftime with a 4-0 advantage.

The Spartans did not go away quietly and they put up a valiant comeback attempt in the second half. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 79th minute. Haylee Eastridge notched her 29th of the season to cut the deficit back to three. The senior's 33rd career goal also broke the MBU career record set by Amy Kelly from 2007-10. Eastridge tallied again three minutes later to give the Pirates at least a slight cause for concern. Danielle Wilde provided the assist, her seventh of the season.

Despite outshooting Park 7-5 in the match, the Spartan comeback attempt fell short. The final was 4-2 and the Pirates advance to the AMC Semifinal on Monday. Missouri Baptist finishes the 2017 season with a record 10-7-1.
