ST. LOUIS – [BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist had a close game on its hands on Saturday against Graceland (Iowa), that is, until the final minutes of the third quarter. After the Jackets tied the game in with just over four minutes remaining, the Spartans went on a 19-2 run and claimed its first win of the season, 81-63.

Missouri Baptist (1-1) received several strong performances on Saturday in the getaway game of the Grand View (Iowa) tournament. The Spartans shot 46 percent from the floor on the day as they finished strong in their second outing of the season.

Shay Robinson, once again, led the Spartans on the night. The senior finished with 22 points and eight rebounds. Robinson went 4-10 from behind the arc as she completed her second consecutive game with above 20 points.

Briya Wilborn was also impressive for the second consecutive night. The senior from Countryside, Ill., finished with 19 points, tying a career high, and five steals, which set a career high. Chanel Brown also tied a career high with 17 points on Saturday.

On the whole though the Spartans gave up 26 turnovers, but recorded an impressive 19 steals on the way to an 18-point victory.

Graceland recorded 33 turnovers on the evening and Missouri Baptist took full advantage. The Spartans netted 38 points off turnover on the evening, which proved to be the difference.

With the win, the Spartans will get eight days off before playing in front of a home crowd for the first time on Monday, Nov. 13 against Evangel (Mo.) Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Carl and Deloris Petty Sports and Recreation Complex.
