SPARTANS ADVANCE TO AMC SEMIFINAL

ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Volleyball took on the Lynx of Lindenwood-Belleville in the American Midwest Conference Quarterfinal on Tuesday evening. The Spartans came out on top in three sets, ending LU-Belleville's season.

The first set began with great intensity as each team battled it out. The entire match remained neck-and-neck throughout with 17 total ties. MBU managed to squeeze by, taking the first set by just two points (25-23).

It looked like this would be quite the match-up, but the early Spartan lead put a wedge in the Lynx momentum. They couldn't come up with the necessary plays to keep up, allowing Missouri Baptist to roll through the following two sets (25-10, 25-8).

Once again, Marion Couraud led the match in kills with a total of 15. The senior also contributed two service aces and nine digs.

Middle blocker Tina Medanovic followed close behind Couraud, putting up 12 kills on a total of 18 attacks (.667 hitting percentage). MBU's Player of the Game, Maggie Sorensen had a solid performance, as well, ending the evening with seven kills (.500 hitting percentage), and one service ace.

Rachel Poole finished the evening with a total of 32 assists, adding to her AMC leading season total (1,250). Libero Mary Grace Masters contributed four assists, as well, and led the Spartans in digs with 11 total.

MBU is back in action on Friday, November 10 in Parkville, Mo. The women will take on No. 9 Park University at 6:30 pm.
