MEN’S TENNIS EDGED OUT BY LINDENWOOD-BELLEVILLE

ST. LOUIS—[MATCH RESULTS] Missouri Baptist Men's Tennis fell 5-4 to Lindenwood-Belleville on Tuesday afternoon at the Creve Coeur Tennis Center. The teams split the singles portion 3-3 before the Lynx took the doubles competition 2-1. 

Lucas Oliveria, James Tobinand Sean Nanney provided points for the Spartans in singles.

Oliveria opened at No. 1 with a dominant 6-2, 6-1 victory. Tobin had his hands full at No. 3, needing a 10-3 tiebreak to win the first set 7-6. After falling 5-7 in set two, the sophomore finished the job with a 6-4 victory in the decisive third set.  Nanney picked up a crucial point at No. 5 (6-2, 3-6, 6-4).

The doubles competition went the way of the Lynx as Tobin and Oliveria lost a dramatic (9-8 (10-5)) point at No. 1 and Ricardo Martin and Nicoy Rolle fell 8-4 at No. 2. Nanney and Dylan Walker won a point at No. 3 with a 9-7 victory.

The Spartans are in action next at 3pm against Williams Woods on Thursday.
