ST. LOUIS— [BOX SCORE] Women's Volleyball continued play in Arkansas, taking on their second conference opponent of the season, Lyon College's Fighting Scots.
The Spartans hit the court with one goal in mind as they cruised by the Scots with ease. Aside from three ties, Missouri Baptist held the lead throughout the entire match, until early in the third set.
The Scots made a few lineup changes to start out the third set, ready to force the match to another. However, MBU was prepared to take the match in three. After a few Lyon errors, and Spartan kills, Missouri Baptist found themselves back in a comfortable lead.
The Spartans remain undefeated in the American Midwest Conference, defeating the Scots in three sets, 25-14, 25-15 and 25-15.
Nearly every Spartan made their way on the stat sheet, with Cate Cigarini leading the way. The sophomore middle blocker contributed 13 points, finishing the match with 17 attacks total, 12 being kills.
Junior Maggie Sorensen had a solid performance, as well. The outside hitter finished the match with a total of 12 attacks, 7 kills, and only one attack error.
The Spartans return home for the first time this season on Tuesday, September 19th. The Prairie Stars of the University of Illinois-Springfield will make way to the Carl and Deloris Petty SRC for a 6 pm match.
