DOUBLE OT NOT ENOUGH AS SPARTANS AND LANCERS FINISH DEADLOCKED

ST. LOUIS—[BOX SCORE] Missouri Baptist Women's Soccer and Grace College (Ind.) played out a scoreless draw on Friday afternoon at CBC Stadium. Neither side could find a breakthrough after two golden goal overtimes.

After defeats last week to No. 4 Benedictine and No. 5 Martin Methodist, the Spartans entered Friday's match looking to get back on track. Neither team controlled possession in the early part of the match. The Lancers finally found a way through in the 41st minute but goalkeeper Alex Lair made two acrobatic saves, the second of which came off a rebound. The senior would go on to post her second clean sheet of the year with a nine save performance.

The Spartans best chance of the first half came on a nice give and go between Haylee Eastridge and Allie Heinz. Heinz let a shot go from about 10 yards out but Grace keeper Abby Schue got a hand on it and tipped it over.

MBU controlled possession in Grace territory for most of the second half. Monica Robinson linked up with Eastridge in the 83rd minute but the senior's attempt from the top of the Grace penalty area sailed high.

The Spartans continued to press through the first overtime and into the second sudden death period. They played the final minute of the second OT with an advantage after a Lancers player was sent off with a red card. However, nothing came of it and the match finished scoreless.

Missouri Baptist moves to 2-2-1 on the season. They'll travel to Hannibal-LaGrange next Wednesday, September 13, to open the conference schedule. Kickoff is set for 2 pm.
