ST. LOUIS—Missouri Baptist women's soccer scored early and often in a 10-0 win over St. Louis College of Pharmacy on Saturday afternoon. The win stretched the Spartans' unbeaten streak to eight games.
The scoring started in the eighth minute when
Brianna Merchant registered her first career goal off an assist from
Casey Gutting. The Spartans doubled in the lead in the 16
th minute. The Eutectics committed a foul in the penalty area and Gutting stepped forward to bury the PK.
Miranda Pratt (twice) and
Riley Janvrin would combine to push the lead to 5-0 before the halftime time whistle was blown. Pratt also added an assist, as did
Alexis Ramey and
Allie Heinz.
The second half would prove more of the same for the Spartans as everyone got in on the goal-scoring action. After
Casey Gutting added a second goal in the 53
rd minute, four Spartans notched their first goals of the year.
Morgan Mell,
Kaylyn Bigley,
Ashley Strautmann, and
Alyssa Matz all got on the board as MBU reached 10 goals in a game for the second time this season.
The Spartans moved their overall record over .500 at 5-4-3 and stayed unbeaten in the AMC at 5-0-2. They'll look to continue the momentum on Wednesday against Hannibal-LaGrange. Kickoff at Spartan Field is scheduled for 11 am.
